SPRING CONTEST

Almost 40 of our students have been busy preparing for this semester’s contest.  The Jazz/Pop Contest on April 10 was held at the University of Texas at Arlington.  This contest featured popular, ragtime, jazz, and blues pieces.   Listen for these fun pieces at the recitals!!

In addition, 4 of our students, Elisabeth Miller, Emilie Miller, Alisa Lin, and Emma Krahn have been preparing for the Ft Worth Piano Solo Competition on April 17th.  They are playing multiple classical pieces for this contest in hopes of being selected for the Honors Recital on April 24th.

SUMMER LESSONS

As always, we will offer two programs for lessons this summer.   We will be teaching a 10 week session  (June 14 – Aug 20).  Students may choose either 9 30-min. lessons or 7 45-min. lessons.  The 45 minute option allows flexibility to accommodate 3 weeks for vacations and other activities, while giving enough instruction time to continue  progress at the piano.   Summer is a great time to work on current music,  choose fun pieces, and begin contest repertoire.  We also work on building important music skills such as ear training, sight reading, improvisation and introduction to blues and jazz playing.    Summer lessons are required in order to be registered for Fall lessons which begin on August 29th.

Renaissance Village

Saturday,  May 15th   11 am – 12 pm

Each semester, we enjoy playing for the residents at Renaissance Village Retirement Center in Lewisville.  This is open to all students, even those who haven’t yet played in a recital.  All students, including adults and new students,  are welcome.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to play for others who will really enjoy and appreciate their efforts.  Students can play their recital, contest, or method book pieces for the residents.  Students should sign-up for a time – 11:00, 11:15, 11:30 or 11:45.

Things to Keep in Mind: Check schedule against party times in case you’re unavailable. E-mail to sign up for a Recital time and Renaissance Village. Tuition information about Summer lessons will be e-mailed soon.
